Who could have predicted that when snowboards started showing up on ski slopes in the 1980’s that snowboarding would have become every bit as popular as skiing. Perhaps the best explanation is simply that a snowboard works much like a skateboard and had a built in consumer base with the explosion of skateboarding in the 1970’s.
